Pin Stool

Pin Stool is a stool designed for the dressing table, named after the push pin its form resembles. The velvet cushion is gathered and cinched at the middle, giving the seat its pin-like silhouette while offering a soft, comfortable place to sit. Beneath it, a tubular metal frame of curved legs and rings creates a light, open base that contrasts with the fullness of the cushion above. The cushion color can be customized, allowing the stool to act as a point of color that brings a modern accent to the room. The result is a small piece that is as playful to look at as it is comfortable to use.

IDEATION:

Began by sketching a wide range of stool forms for the dressing table. Two hourglass sketches stood out, and by combining them, I arrived at the final form: a cinched cushion resting on a light, open frame.

PROTOTYPES:

Seat was carved from stacked gray foam, with a wooden base plate that locks into the underside to support the stool and connect the legs.

3D-printed connectors were made to create fishmouth joints between the legs and rings.
