A0

A0 is made from plywood, bent through a series of closely spaced slots cut into its surface that let the rigid material curve without breaking. The top section curls into a full, continuous round, while the bottom resolves into a 90-degree turn softened into a gentle curve rather than a sharp corner — two different degrees of the same bending language. Rather than making the two ends match, the design lets them diverge, using the shared slotting technique as the thread that ties a tight curl and a soft right angle into one coherent form. The result is a shelf that can mount flat against a wall or stand freestanding, holding its continuous, bent form in either setting.

Each shelf is modeled as a single repeatable unit, with the bend profile refined in CAD to keep the curve consistent at any scale. Units connect end to end, their curls alternating direction so two or three can link into a longer, continuous run — turning one piece into a modular system.
